Whether you've never used a pottery wheel before or simply fancy trying something new, this session is designed to give you a fun introduction to the basics of wheel throwing without the commitment of a full course.

We'll start with a demonstration covering the fundamentals of preparing and centring the clay before showing you how to open the clay and begin forming your first pot. You'll then have plenty of time to get stuck in yourself, with guidance and support throughout the session.

You'll have your own pottery wheel and unlimited clay to practise with, giving you the freedom to have a go, make mistakes and experiment with different shapes and forms. There's no pressure to produce a perfect pot — the aim is to enjoy the process and get a feel for working with clay.

At the end of the session, you'll be able to choose one of your favourite pieces to be glazed and fired by Shed Ceramics. Your finished piece will be ready for collection approximately 3–4 weeks after your session, once it has dried, been glazed and fired.

Your session includes:

• 2-hour guided pottery wheel experience

• Demonstration and hands-on tuition

• Your own pottery wheel

• Unlimited clay to practise with

• One piece glazed and fired

• Tea and coffee

• Finished piece ready to collect in approximately 3–4 weeks

Additional pieces can be glazed and fired for £20 per piece.

No previous pottery experience is required — just come along, get your hands dirty and have a go at throwing your first pot!
